The Katrina Letters

In the cleanup of Hurricane Katrina, a New Orleans family discovered 500 letters exchanged by their parents at the time of their courtship during World War II. Ensemble piece for actors and singers with music ranging from Schubert to Tango to Broadway. Created and directed by Christopher Vath, musician.

Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

A night dedicated to the traditions of big band Latin jazz. Led by Arturo O'Farrill, pianist, composer, educator and founder, the 18-piece Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra will bring its Latin rhythms, clave, African-based percussions, as well as modern jazz and swing to the Hammerstein Ballroom as the closing event of the 2013 New York Encounter.
